The Sahara, the world's largest and most iconic desert, is a place of contrasts: from the wind-sculpted dunes to the bitter cold of the nights, from the unbearable heat of the day to the flickering mirages of the oases. Against this breathtaking backdrop, we encountered the splendor of blue horsemen, fascinating emerald green eyes and villages of white houses silhouetted against the whiteness of the sands. Inside these dwellings, gilded teapots and inlaid carpets welcomed us as travelers, driven also by the lure of the ancient technique of tadelakt.
Discovering the materials of the Sahara: Our trip to Morocco.
During our trip, we discovered that it is the desert inhabitants, the Berbers, who have unveiled the extraordinary potential of Moroccan limestone rocks. These rocks, the result of millennia of marine sedimentation (impure limestone), are found underground in the Marrakech area and form the basis of materials of incredible beauty and strength.
We are excited to share this extraordinary experience with you. Our company has drawn great inspiration from this journey, exploring new possibilities and materials that will bring innovation and quality to your spaces.
From this journey, the natural earths of Morocco were born. These are two natural dyes that we use to achieve some pleasant shades of Pastellone and Calceterra, inspired precisely by the colors of Morocco.
